July News of the Law Office

July is coming to an end, which means it is time to share what the Law Office of Daria Zhdan-Pushkina has been working on and what we are preparing for.

Arbitration

One arbitration case on construction has been completed. Cases on maritime arbitration and construction are in progress, in their hot stage. In arbitration, there are many discussions and negotiations, and understanding the psychology of the participants and the rules of negotiation for arbitration is incredibly important and directly affects its outcome.

A course on maritime arbitration has been opened at the National Research University Higher School of Economics; recruitment of participants is underway for October 2024. The program will be taught by Daria Zhdan-Pushkina

The FDI Moot Shenzhen 2024 was held recently. Daria Zhdan-Pushkina took part in the moot as an arbitrator.

Business mediation

Entrepreneurs have begun to use corporate mediation tools more actively. Requests for corporate mediation in the chemical production, construction, and supply of goods have been coming in regularly since December last year. Not all requests reach the hearing, but many things become clear at the consultation stage, and it is encouraging that requests have become regular.

We believe that due to the increase in state fees for court hearings, the number of requests for corporate mediation will also increase.

Companies are also interested in conducting corporate trainings on negotiations and conflict resolution. In particular, there is a request to conduct such training in Europe, the program is ready, and the stage of discussing training arrangements is underway. It is necessary to develop this area on the Russian market as well. We have planned this for the next academic year.

A business mediation program for the HSE is ready. From September, the program will be hosted by Daria Zhdan-Pushkina and members of the Governing Board of the Solis Mediation Center Veronika Demidova and Natalia Frolova, as well as Valentina Pavlenko, Faculty of Creative Industries, HSE.

Consulting and Expertise

In this area, insurance and international legal issues on sanctions continue to be in the lead.

In addition, in July, the number of reasons for work related to an appeal to the Supreme Court of Russia increased. This is a separate interesting task, since in addition to knowing the subject of the dispute, it is necessary to understand the specifics of systematizing the arguments for this government agency.
