In October 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice deposited the new edition of the MAC Rules.
The following changes have been made:
- the competence of the MAC was clarified;
- the procedure for taking interim measures by the Chairman of the MAC is detailed;
- the amount of the arbitration fee has been reduced by establishing a scale;
- it is possible to submit a statement of claim in electronic format;
- the total amount of claims for consideration of a dispute by a sole arbitrator under the accelerated arbitration procedure has been increased to USD 50,000;
- the parties are given the opportunity to submit proposals for the candidacy of a sole arbitrator to the Nomination Committee.
The provision of an arbitration fee scale is a major change that market participants have been expecting for a long time.
